Southern Myanmar: the Golden Rock pagoda is known as the “Wonder of the World.” This sacred site, Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, is built on the a huge golden rock atop a sheer cliff. This miraculous rock that looks as if it could roll down at any moment and though it can be rocked with a push, it never falls.
The journey from Yangon to Kinpun base camp, at the foot of the mountain, takes five hours by car, and then another 2 hours to the summit. While a day trip is possible, it is recommended to spend a night in Kyaiktiyo Pagoda and Bago sightseeing on the return journey before heading back to Yangon.

Extending your journey further will lead to more inspiring sites: Lumbini Garden in Hpa-An, famous for its impressive collection of 1,120 Buddha images, and Mudon, where you are welcomed by approximately 200 stone statues of monks collecting alms lining the roadside.

Mawlamyine
Mawlamyine, the capital of Mon State is a lush tropical port city. From the hills surrounded by pagodas, you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the town and the sea.
Thanbyuzayat
About 65 kilometers south of Mawlamyine, Thanbyuzayat was is historically significant asthe starting point of the former Burma-Thai Railway(Death Railway) during World War II. Today, there is a Japanese war memorial and a beautifully maintained Allied war cemetery.
Hpa-an
Hpa-an, the capital of Kayin State, is a scenic town located about 270 kilometers east of Yangon, famous for Mount Zwegabin. When you enter the Lumbini Garden, with its impressive collection of over 1,120 Buddha images, it draws you into a world of excitement with its overwhelming presence.
Mudon
Mudon is located a 30-minute drive, about 30 kilometers, from Mawlamyine. The town is particularly famous for the Win Sein Taw Ya Temple, which is home to the world’s largest Reclining Buddha image.
